HAL Heritage Centre & Aerospace Museum, sprawled over 4 acres of lush green land is located in Bengaluru, the silicon valley of India. The HAL Company was established in the year 1940 by Mr Walchand Harichand and the museum was inaugurated on August 30, 2001.
Museum Highlights:
- Hall 1: : Photographs showcasing growth of aviation in each decade from 1940 till date
- Hall 2: Showcases various functions of an aircraft engine. Cross section of various aircraft engines and real Engines such as Garret (for Dornier Aircraft), Adour (for Jaguar Aircraft) Weand Orpheus (for Kiran Aircraft) Ejection Seat with Parachute; and Pushpak & Basant Aircraft can also be seen here
- Outdoor displays:MARUT, MIG-21, HT-2, KIRAN, CANBERRA, AJEET, DHRUV, HANSA, IJT, LAKSHYA , and other variants of aircrafts and helicopters are on display
- Library:Consists of informative reading materials that covers details about a large range of aircraft and engines. It consists of prints, drawings, technical orders, overhaul manuals, work scopes, instructional data
- Basic simulator and a true motion simulator:This gives users the true feel of flying a fighter jet or commercial aircraft inside museum campus.
- Landscape exterior: Rose garden, Orchidarium, herbal garden with a number of exotic varieties
- ATC Radar: The Radar with L Band surveillance covers a range of 200 nautical miles which rotates at speed of 3-4 RPM, with the frequency of 1250-1350 MHZ
- PSLV model & PSLV Heat shield: Displayed to give a glimpse of forays made by the country in space technology
